Where's the Beer?   (February 3, 2010)

This past Sunday our church bulletin contained its usual reservation form for Wednesday night supper.  The menu always appears on the reservation form, too, as it did again this week.  But this week's menu may draw a new crowd.  The February 3 menu: "Roast Beer, baked sweet potatoes, fried broccoli, French bread, dessert."  Spell check didn't catch this typo!
When my husband saw what was in the bulletin, he was quick to forgive the error.  In fact, it reminded him of an error he made a long time ago.  John used to type the weekly bulletins himself, using an electric typewriter. And one week he typed an invitation to all the ladies of Coldwater United Methodist church.  He encouraged them to join the "Untied Methodist Women" at their monthly gathering.  Seems like roast beer and untied women might go together!
Let me reassure you.  Untied Methodist women will not be drinking roast beer at the church, this week or ever.  Both are typos that open the door for plenty of jokes and lots of laughter!  Truth is, United Methodist women know how to have a great time without roast beer.Laughing

Psalm 122:1, "I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the Lord."
